Researchers have determined that the brain functions differently for liberals than for conservatives. Yet to be shown is whether the political orientation causes the different brain functioning, or whether the different brain functioning causes the political orientation.

Update: Here’s another study that finds a psychological difference between liberals and conservatives. This time it’s how they respond to threats.

As we take a moment to reflect upon the events of September 11th, 2001, the linked article has a first-person account of a man who was saved by a fortuitous series of events.
With A Taste of Colorado going on here in Denver, the tips in the linked article are particularly timely. They tell you how to win (or at least improve your chances) at common carnival games. I like the one about shooting out the red star—rather than aim at the star, shoot a circle around the whole thing and the star will fall out.

This is a fairly long (8+ min) video, and the camera’s a bit shaky, but it’s well worth watching. It involves water buffalo, lions, and a crocodile. Be sure to watch the whole thing—don’t give up at the halfway point when it seems to be over.
