US Gov’t Subpoenas Google Search Records
January 20th, 2006This is disturbing in two ways: first because the government is trying to access Google’s search records, and second because Google keeps a record of everyone’s searches. I have a feeling that Google is going to lose this one.

For those interested, here is some additional detail in a FAQ format. And it turns out that several search engines were subpoenaed, but Google was the only one that refused to comply.

In related news, Google shares fell by 8.5% after news of its decision came to light.
